Turning to photography as a creative outlet during a valiant fight with breast cancer at age 34, [info]renaissance10 survived and set up a photo contest to help raise funds for the Lavender Trust, a nonprofit that provides information and support to younger women with breast cancer. In the first two years, the competition brought in over £65,000 (that's $107,260.73 U.S.!), with entries from 130 countries last year. Renaissance10 recently joined LiveJournal to meet other passionate photographers and find supportive friends.

Technology

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Howdy, dearies.

As of this moment, both the battery and AC adapter for my current primary laptop have failed in a magnificent way. This means that I am now in the process of fixing them / replacing them / getting a new laptop. I won't be particularly active, but i'll try my damnedest to be. In addition, Kits is visiting me tomorrow until January 4th, so that will cut down my activity as well. HOWEVER. I do still have a netbook so I shall make attempts to post and be semi-active.

As of right now, however, consider me on a mini-hiatus. If you have a desperate need to contact me or get hold of me, send an email to SkyeAcadia AT gmail DOT com and i'll get back to you.

Otherwise, i'll post when I can, where I can.

Much love for now, and here's to hoping I either A) Fix this laptop fast or B) Find a good laptop deal fast.

Since everyone is attached, please make an effort to contact one another or at least make a post :3

Also~

The first Puzzle shows up today. :O At about 8 o'clock (EST - 1 1/2 hours-ish).

It's a sliding puzzle and it gives the first clue, which simply tells them that they will have to find the key. :')

The next two puzzles are going to be pattern puzzles, first with letters, then with numbers.
That way you guys know~

Get to posting~

I've gotten the list together for the event posted here. If you want to participate and you're not signed up, please send me an LJ Message, Email, or IM (my contact information is in the main community's profile) DO NOT POST HERE IF YOU DID NOT SIGN UP, PLEASE! Contact me personally~!

I encourage people to use this post to plot out stuff.

Note: All the clues received will hint at characters needing to work together, or find somewhere they all know.

I'll make a list of puzzles when I get home from work, they'll get their first one tomorrow afternoon, and get them at Noon each day.

Also, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays :)

And take a look at the way randomizer loves you guys.

And the handcuffed ones are... )

** EDIT: Please note, if your partner does not exist during these times, please contact me. We have a week to do the event, and I want everyone to fully participate. But they can't if they don't have the mun of the other person they're playing with. I find it seriously unfair to other muns if you offer to participate and make no effort to do so.

EVENT COMING UP

Since the mini event ended just around 24 hours ago this was just a cover up for preparations for the bigger event. This big event will will result in two characters being handcuffed together. This will start on Wednesday (time pending participation, it may end up being Thursday at 12:01 am). And I hope to see people volunteering for this as it'll force character interaction decided at random (if there is a -specific- two you and another mun want paired, then you are welcome to offer it up, however approval of such is left to moderatorship). Wednesday at about 11PM I'll post it up.

** NOTE: Characters will not be paired with friends. **

The catch is finding the key, throughout the week, until the 31st(ish, once again, this is pending as well~), they will receive clues as to where to find their individual keys to unlock the handcuffs. You'll have to solve a puzzle (TOGETHER) in order to get that clue. Teams of two are welcome to solve the puzzles they receive in any order, and can take until event end to solve them all.

There are no consequences for NOT solving the puzzle, it just means they'll be stuck together all week. (Which is fine, puzzles are going to be difficult. Sliding puzzles, word puzzles, number puzzles. Things that will require a variety of skillsets. Recognizing patterns and etc.) So I (personally) encourage everyone to not solve it quickly because the purpose of this is more character interaction and working together rather than actually GETTING the handcuffs undone (note: clues will probably be extremely obscure and useless. That's the reason Purgatory is doing it, too - CHARACTER INTERACTION.)

What I want people to do is comment here if they are interested in putting this on their characters and which characters.

Some notes on the handcuffs:
Magic reflects, knives will break, bullets will ricochet.
They can extend up to 3 feet apart. Purgatory does not expect people to share a bed. Three feet isn't that far, really.
Muns should leave their contact information here if it differs from the taken list, or at least an email address to allow a partner mun to contact you since I can use that as reference in the post on Wednesday.

I will use

http://www.random.org/lists/
and a Dice to generate the pairings.

Okay, first off - don't mind the icon. *Uses the randomizer too much*

Poll results, changes, and other mod related stuff.

From the poll results, it looks like about half of you are pretty gung-ho about keeping the game going. Unfortunately half of you isn't quite a lot, considering how low our numbers are - so if you want to see this game stay alive, you're going to have to work as players to do that. I'm glad to see that a number of people have kept up with posting, and you're not letting the lack of effort from others discourage your own motivation. It shows that you're really serious about keeping this game going, and not just voting yes on the poll to not follow through. This is pretty important for our decision as mods, because there really is only so much that we can do alone.

About 77% of players voted to keep the game alive, and offered their help in doing so. So, this post is going to be sort of open forum for anyone to comment and make suggestions/requests or just throw ideas out to help improve things here.

Please let us know what direction you'd like to see the plot go in, what changes you'd like to see made and how drastic these changes should be. Would you like to see Purg changed to a whole new extreme - or just tidied up here and there, to make things more consistent and orderly? What kind of changes are you looking for, as players?

If you guys have suggestions for the betterment of the game, we'd love to know what they are. Comment here with suggestions/ideas, and what helps keep you (or your idea of what helps players in general) stay active, so that we can keep this game going. Also, please comment with anything you as an individual, or players in general, can bring to the table to help keep things rolling smoothly. Please keep in mind that everything is up to mod discretion, and although your suggestions will be carefully considered if there's a reason we feel that something can't be done, or in the long run wouldn't help the game, we may opt not to do it. None of these decisions will be left up to one mod, but will be discussed between the three in charge (Ed, Katie and Leah) which should eliminate the probability of a tie. If there's a situation that requires further discussion Suu will also be brought in with her own opinion/suggestion, and all possible angles will be looked at to assure a fair decision is made for everyone involved.

Unfortunately anonymous will not be enabled in this entry, because I don't want a repeat of non-members making it their business, however there is the anonymous enabled post that was linked awhile ago, if you'd be more comfortable posting anonymous comments there with the changes you'd like to see. A few members have come to me with the issue of that entry being relatively difficult to find and I apologize for that, but the reason there is no easy access link to it is, again, to prevent non-members from making that entry their business. At the time it was posted, we were trying to keep away from anyone trolling from RPS wank - but now it remains hidden to avoid unfair judgment from people who simply aren't in the game. If you're logged into a character journal that is still a member of Purg, there is a locked entry with a link to the anonymous player input entry that was posted over the summer. I am going to do my best to locate both entries and link the member-locked post in Purg's profile, so that current members may find the anonymous post with ease, without risking any of the issues we were trying to avoid. Hopefully that'll fix that problem for concerned members.

As far as closing goes, it seems that a number of you want the game to remain open - however, if we close it you would prefer a finale plot, and set end game date. Overall you want a change to the game's plot and set up, a number of you want some changes with the mods and helpers - and most of you would like the game to remain open while these changes take place.

There is a major plot planned in January, and that is going to be our Finale Plot. Simply put, you as players, and we as mods, have until that plot begins to really get this ball rolling. If you can convince us before that plot begins that you want Purg to thrive, then time will be taken to complete an overhaul as players wish. During the plot, the mods (and any willing helpers) will take the time to reorganize Purg and set it up in a manner that will hopefully keep the majority happy. Applications will be closed to new members, during that plot and if the game is closing, will remain closed with few exceptions. If the game is remaining open, applications will re-open after this plot ends, and Purg is considered once again presentable to new members.

Lastly, the mods have discussed Role Assignments. Instead of having co-mods that all simply do the same things, each mod (and helpers) will be assigned their own specific roles. This has already started to an extent with the helpers - Chuu is in charge of the Friend Add/Remove list, and Suu is primarily a NPC mod now. Which means that occasionally she'll throw out an Alma-plot for our entertainment, but otherwise will only be called on in case of an emergency. When Leah started her roles were primarily the Taken List and accepting Applications once she became a full mod - but that will be changing again when the new roles are assigned.

We want to keep players happy - so naturally, if you don't feel this will solve your issues with the mod team, please speak up and let us know. Also, if you would like to offer your services as a Helper, feel free to let us know in comments too. Helpers will be voted on by the mods and present helpers.

And I didn't forget about the activity check, so I hope you guys didn't either - I just haven't eeen able to do it.

So, dudes, just trying to figure out how everyone wants to handle Thylas handing out rewards for his little challenge (here).
There's a few ways, I can do a log-post, Journal-post w/action Spam or just Journal, or leave it in the OOC in this post.

If you're participating in it, let me know, so I can properly allow your characters to get their rewards. Also please tell me if they captured (I know -some- may have an inclination to cheat~), when they captured it as well~ (ie: Successfully on Thursday). xD
